This little blurb is from last year’s notes on Facebook, part of the album plot 17. I’m still setting up this blog’s style and structure and have no time for content yet. Soon though.
plot 17. the bushes near the top third of picture at the centre mark the southeast corner of the plot. the pots at the bottom contain larger rocks removed while preparing the soil. i started working on the soil last year. it took 10 days of digging, turning, sifting, pulling out clay balls, concrete chunks and rocks, and adding organic compost and peat moss. i wanted to recover and rework the existing soil rather than adding top soil. this year, i just added compost and pulled out a little more of the rocks and clay balls. next year, i don’t plan to dig or turn the soil at all. i’m learning from my friend and fellow gardener canon that it’s best not to disturb the soil as it ruins the ecology under the surface.
